IPR, GANGTOK, MAY 14, 2023 : Student of Paljor Namgyal Girls School Gitanjali Chhetri has handled the responsibility of interacting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visited the stall of the school on May 11 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on the occasion of a week-long celebration with the theme “School to Startup.” Six of 40schools at the event had been handpicked by the PMO for direct interaction with the Prime Minister.
The Paljor Namgyal School was one of them. A team of three students represented the school at the celebration, but due to security reasons only one student was allowed to be in the stall when the Prime Minister visited it.
Incidentally, Paljor Namgyal School's was the first stall that the Prime Minister visited, immediately after the inauguration. The other students in the team were Sneha Kumari and Aniska Rai.
The teacher accompanying them was Ivan Dorjee Lepcha. They presented a prototype using artificial intelligence features to empower a vehicle driver with additional safety features while driving.
At the event, various ministries showcased their initiatives and technologies being developed and used in various applications for National growth and security. The Prime Minister, in his speech also called out to various ministries to work towards developing a conducive environment in the Country to take students innovation towards successful ventures.
One of the major initiatives of the government, the Atal Innovation Mission showcased its 40 best ATLs and successfully incubated Startups from various AICs. Among the selected ones was also a team of three students from ATL, Paljor Namgyal Girls’ School.
All these teams were invited by the Atal Innovation Mission on the basis of their past achievements and prototype videos submitted to the PMO for the said event.
Further , six of these 40 schools were handpicked by the PMO for direct interaction with the PM during his walk-through of stalls on the National Technology Day.
It’s also a matter of immense pride for Sikkim and PNG School that theirs was the first stall to be visited by the honourable PM, immediately after the inauguration. This huge responsibility was handled well by one of the team members. Owing to security concerns, only one student was allowed to be in the stall and Miss Gitanjali Chettri of class XII Science represented the Team, the School and Sikkim and received the honourable PM with full enthusiasm and joy.
The honourable PM seemed very happy knowing about the innovation explained by her. The Union Minister for Defence, Shri Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh and the Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, Dr. Chintan Vaishnav were accompanying the honourable PM during his walk through of the selected schools, startups and ministries.
Other members of the PNG Team are Miss Sneha Kumari, Miss Aniska Rai (XII Science) and their teacher and project guide Mr. Ivan Dorjee Lepcha. Since Artificial Intelligence is one of their main subjects, their prototype made use of an AI feature to empower a vehicle driver adding to additional safety features while driving, which is also in sync with the National Road Safety Policy.
The PNG team extended gratitude towards Atal Innovation Mission, Principal of their School, SCERT(during SLSMEE) and various State Government initiatives which have put Sikkim in the good books of the Country.
