New road to Bungkulung Busty may develop into alternative route from Darjeeling to Siliguri

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, MAY 20, 2023 : Under the Mirik Subdivision, the construction of the paved road from Dudhay Zero Golai to Bungkulung Busty is almost complete. It is understood that the road will be inaugurated soon.
The road, which is being constructed by the PWD department with an investment of about Rs 38 crore, will be7.5 kilometers long. After the opening of the road, it is believed that the people of Bungkulung, Namsu, Chalise, Suketar,Nagari, Dhaje, Ambotia will have many facilities in transportation.
Resident of Bungkulung Busty N. B.Limbu said that after the formation of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council, DGHC Chairman Subash Ghisingh had planned an alternative road from Dudhay Zero to Ghoom but the road could not be completed during the tenure of the DGHC.
Resident of Bunkulung busty Pawan Subba said now the road reached Bungkulung Busty, but there was a possibility that this road would reach Ghoom in the future. This road could become an alternative in the transportation from Darjeeling to Siliguri. People living in Darjeeling, Ghoom, Pokhriabong, Nagari, Dhajia, Ambotia would have the benefit of reduced distance along this road, which would save time and money.
The construction of the road had made the common people of Bungkulung, homestay owners, farmers happy. He said the road leading from Soureni Rabindranath High School to Bungkulung had also been repaired, so the traffic to Bungkulung had become easier
