
NBU to set up Centre for Strategy and Regional Security : constitute a Student Service Centre and a Student Grievance Redressal Cell

EOI, SILIGURI, MAY 19, 2023 : In the 73rd Executive Council meeting of the North Bengal University on Friday, the apex body the university took a number of “progressive decisions” to ensure the growth of the university, NBU Vice Chancellor Om Prakash Mishra told reporters after the meeting.
Among them, the EC approved the implementation of the International Visiting Professor Scheme, under which scholars and academics would be invited who would render their services in an honorary capacity.
A total of 112 names of internationally renowned professors were approved, among them 34 from foreign universities and institutes.
The EC also approved the establishment of ‘NBU Centre for Strategy and Regional Security’ in collaboration with the army and para-military forces like the Border Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force.
To bring transparency in the conduct of research, the University had launched a portal for research scholars through which information about topics of research, supervisor, department and date of registration would be uploaded. The portal would be integrated further to obtain real-time publication and conference data.
The EC approved the implementation of Skill Enhancement and Expertise Development service. The service would be extended to the staff of Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority.
The department-wise extension activities of the university had been brought under a single umbrella which would now be looked after centrally by the extension and outreach committee.
The university would constitute a Student Service Centre and a Student Grievance Redressal Cell as per UGC guidelines for addressing issues relating to students.
The EC considered the proposal of the Controller of Examination to publish both undergraduate and post-graduate results within 20 days of the end of the examination. With effect from June 1, Professor Ranjita Chakraborty of the Department of Political Science was appointed Director of Internal Quality Assurance Cell.
The tenure of the present Registrar and Finance Officer were extended for four months or till a new Registrar and a new Finance Officer were recruited
