GNLF leader murdered in Kalimpong: Accused detained for the murder of Roshan Lama

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 1 May 2023: One person is detained for the murder of the Gorkha National Liberation Front Leader Roshan Lama. Lama hailed from Upper Neyong Merong of Pedong and was killed on Monaday night. 

Roshan Lama one of the veteran Gorkha National Liberation Front Leader of Kalimpong was murdered at around 8,30 pm of Monday. 

It is said that he was killed when accused Tshering Sherpa stopped his vehicle and attacked him while he was returning back from Rangpo Sikkim and heading towards his home.

His body was brought to Kalimpong District Hospital and sent to mortuary for Post Mortem.

It is said in a written complaint lodged by the deceased Lamas brother Bhusan Lama at Lava Police Station, that Roshan and his family were returning back from Rangpo in the evening in his vehicle while his vehicle had an incident of accident with a motorbike at Ramdhura near Burmaik Deorali which was turned into a scuffle with the biker.  

In the scuffle, the biker Tshering Sherpa of 16th Mile had a fist fight with Lama.

In the scuffle he was brutally attacked and was pushed off the road down the cliff causing serious injuries all over his body, including his head, while his arms and legs were fractured. 

After the incident, the accused fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, family members rescued Lama from the spot and brought his body to the Kalimpong District Hospital where he was declared brought dead. 

After receiving the complaint police came into action and seized a motorbike from the place of the incident called Burmaik Deorali and after making raids the accused Tshering Sherpa was detained for interrogation.

Roshan Lama was a hardcore GNLF and an ex General Secretary of Kalimpng Branch Committee of GNLF and renowned in Algarah Pedong and Kalimpong since early days of GNLF.
