PR, PIB, Gangtok, 30 May 2023: The overall health of an individual is determined by the microbiota in our gut. The importance of taking fermented foods to help keep an individual healthy is noteworthy and its a good food habit.
Speaking on the special lecture on ‘Dysbiosis- How to deal with it' Padma Bhushan Prof. N. K. Ganguly,FNA, FNASc, FASc, former Director General of ICMR & President of Gut Microbiota & Probiotic Science Foundation (India) also spoke on the disease Alzhimers and how Probiotics can cure it .Prof. Ganguly also very specifically mentioned that probiotics can also help cure depression.
The talk was organised by Sikkim University on 30th May 2023 at the Tourism Hall, Gangtok.. Vice- Chancellor Prof. Avinash Khare attended the program as Chief- Guest. Dr. Neerja Hajela, General Secretary on Activities of Gut Microbiota & Probiotic Science Foundation (India), gave a brief presentation on the activities of the Gut Microbiota & Probiotic Science Foundation (India).
The lecture session was followed by an interactive session.
Vice- Chancellor Prof. Avinash Khare in his address expressed his gratitude to Prof. Ganguly on his deliberation on probiotics. He also congratulated Senior Prof. Jyoti Prakash Tamang, Head of the Dept. Of Microbiology on organising the lecture.
The programme was attended by faculty members, staff, students and members of the medical fraternity of Sikkim.
