BJP government at Centre not working in the interest of Sikkimese people, says JAC

SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, MAY 8/, 2023  :  Vice President of Joint Action Council Duk Nath Nepal on Monday lambasted the BJP government at the Centre for not working in the interest of Sikkemese people. 
He said Sikkim should not be taken for granted for its size. Nepal was addressing a meeting of the JAC to observe the 50th anniversary of the historic May 8, 1973,Tripartite Agreement at Singtam; exactly a month after the attack on JAC general secretary Keshav Adhikari.
Crown Prince of Sikkim kingdom Jigme Wangchuk Namgyal was present in the anniversary, along with Sikkim Bhutia Lepcha Apex Committee (SIBLAC) convener Tseten Tashi along with two vice presidents of JAC Duk Nath Nepal and Passang Sherpa.
Nepal said: “After the passing of the new Finance Act, Indians have entered Sikkim. Now we are all equal.” 
He also said the Centre had totally failed in foreign policy in the Himalayan region.
“They failed in the Dokalam issue and it is now a disputed area.
With Nepal, they also failed. In Darjeeling, too, they failed to fulfil the dream of the Gorkhas.
”Passang Sherpa highlighted the significance of May 8,telling how the tripartite agreement had ushered in democracy in Sikkim.
“We want to make the140 crore Indians aware of the significance of the tripartite agreement between the Sikkim raj Durbar, the Indian government and the political parties of Sikkim. We want to tell them not to do injustice to the Sikkimese people now by taking our special status and rights.
