Stormy scenes in Sikkim Assembly, Pawan Chamling removed from House

PRAKASH ADHIKARI and SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, APRIL 10, 2023 :  Stormy scenes were witnessed in the Sikkim Assembly on Monday during the special session. At one stage former Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front legislator Pawan Chamling had to be removed from the House with the help of the Marshall.
Speaker Arun Kumar Upreti had to adjourn the House for10 minutes for disturbances and repeated disruptions in the speeches. The war of words between Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling continued outside the Assembly even after the session had ended.
The Chief Minister said: "As alleged by our former Chief Minister who is also a senior member of the House, I did not mislead the Assembly. Whatever I said in the Assembly, I spoke with evidence, with proper documents and notifications. When I spoke I did not look at any duplicate notification, because I have original documents with me. He could not accept whatever the reality is and presented it through the documents. He had to do something, so he resorted to drama. Looking into the situation, our Speaker had to ask the Marshall to take him out.
”Pawan Chamling, on the other hand ,termed the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government as ‘undemocratic’. He said:" From this incident we can clearly say that the SKM government is totally undemocratic and it is my right and privilege to put a point of order, but I was not allowed to do so. I demanded thrice by standing up, but the Speaker did not permit me and I was taken outside the House.
