SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, APRIL 23, 2023 : The famous Tsomgo Lake of Sikkim and the surrounding areas, including the famous Dzuluk valley, looked like straight out of a fairy tale; covered completely in a white sheet of snow, attracting tourists to this hill paradise in the north east after photos of the region have gone viral in the social media.
The state received heavy snowfall on Sunday, with roads leading to Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula and Dzuluk valley temporarily blocked. The district administration is issuing permits to the tourists only up to the 15th Mile, citing safety concerns and leaving nothing to chance after the snow slide that caused the death of seven tourists earlier this month.
It may be recalled that seven tourists, including a child, were killed and 13others injured and admitted to hospital after a massive snow slide swept away as many as 20 tourists who were playing in heaps of snow area on April 4 morning at around 11 a.m. at the 13th mile along the Jawaharlal Nehru Road which leads to Nathu La on the India – China border
