JCB driver killed in Sevoke – Rangpo railway line construction site

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, APRIL 17, 2023: A JCB driver was killed on Monday morning at around10 am when a heap of concrete and soil fell on him while he was working inside tunnel number 10 between Malli and Tarkhola near Bhalukhop.
The deceased was identified as Shankar Barman, a resident of Maynaguri under the Coochbehar district. Shankar was working under the tunnel when suddenly a portion from the above fell on him.
He was soon rushed to Rambi hospital where doctors declared him dead. Among the other fatal accidents of the construction site of the Sevoke – Rangpo railway line were the death of two workers and injury of five inside the same tunnel a few years ago, the death of two workers at the construction site at Kali River in the Kalijhora area and the death of a worker from an injury while working in a tunnel at Lohapul
