In Tibetan, ‘Chelesa’ is said by elders tochildren: Tibetan Youth Congress leade

Yowan Mothay, EOI, KALIMPONG, APRIL 20, 2023 : The North East Regional Tibetan Youth Congress organized in Kalimpong on Thursday a rally in defence of The Dalai Lama; after a controversial video had gone viral over the social media. 
The rally which started at the Mela Ground went around the town. Buddhists from various parts of the north-east region participated, together with Kalimpong MLA Ruden Sada Lepcha and Administrator of Kalimpong Municipality Ravi Pradhan. 
Slogans were shouted, like “Long Live Dalai Lama” and denouncing the video. President of Tibetan Youth Congress Salugara Tenzing Ongmo said the Tibetan word ‘Chelesa,’ the English of which is ‘Eat my tongue,’ is said by elders to the children.
Some news channels had made this controversial, he said, and demanded an apology from these media houses and social users.
