BJP asks Bengal Guv to prevent transfer of tribal land in Darjeeling

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, 3 APRIL 2023 : A BJP delegation from the Darjeeling DistrictUnit o the party, led by Darjeeling District Committee President Professor Kalyan Dewan, Vice President L. M. Lama, General Secretary Sanjay Bista, Secretaries Raju Thulung Rai and PC Thapa met West Bengal Governor C. V. Anand Bose at Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling on Monday. 
In the meeting which lasted for about half an hour, the BJP functionaries requested the Governor to intervene in the policy of the West Bengal government under special powers granted to him under the Constitution in Darjeeling as a partially excluded area and prevent the transfer of land to protect the rights of the tribal people of the hills, Raju Thulung Rai said. 
The delegates also informed the Governor of the current political uncertainty in the hills and said the Centre and the BJP were their only hope. 
The BJP in its resolution had promised to settle the problems of the Gorkha community and the people had full confidence in the Centre.
