The Assam State Committee of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) celebrated its 23rd Foundation day on 6th April 2023 at Maligoan, Guwahati in aegis with Kamrup District BGP

BGP, Assam president Amar Adhikari hoisted the Parisangh flag followed by homage to the martyrs by Senior Vice President Laxmi Subedi and Kamrup Dist BGP Santosh Chetry and dignitaries.

Assam Gorkha Sammelan president Krishna Bhujel, Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha president Durga Khatiwada, Senior Literary Person Nar Bahadur Sapcota and AGS Kamrup District president Yuvaraj Gadtola and State Awardee Teacher Munni Sapcota graced the occasion as Special Guests on the occasion. Immediate Past President and Chief Advisor Prakash Dahal briefed the history of Parisangh and significance of the Parisangh's logo, flag and BGP's mission and vision.  Special Guest Krishna Bhujel AGS President addressed and greeted Parisangh leaders with Gorkha traditional scarf Khada. Members of the Bharatiya Gorkha Mahila Parisangh performed chorus while all present in the meeting sang the 'Gorkha Jagaran Geet'.

The inhouse session was presided by Amar Adhikari and co-ordinated by Kamrup Dist BGP Gen Secretary Santosh Chetry who explained the agenda of the meeting and success stories of BGP in Assam. 

Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh is the only  non-government recognised national social organization of Gorkhas an ethnic group of India present across 22 states. Mahila Parisangh and Yuva Parisangh are it's women and youth wing that adds human resources to the Parisangh. The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh is committed to the vision of a Gorkha society in India, recognized and accepted as a dignified, cultured and patriotic society at par with any other civilized modern Indian society enjoying the full rights and privileges enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh is committed to the task of bonding each and every member of the Gorkha community in a national, unified body through systematic planning and orientation, thereby strengthening and guiding them in all aspects of their social, cultural, educational, economic and political growth. BGP has identified six issues of the Indian Gorkhas to be resolved at the national level 

i. Creation of a separate state for the Gorkhas of India. 
ii. Identification of the problems of tea garden and cinchona plantation in Darjeeling-Dooars as a national problem. 
iii. Addressing the sense of insecurity and uncertainty in the minds of Gorkhas of Northeast India. 
iv. Commissioning of a Doordarshan channel dedicated to the Nepali-speaking Gorkhas. 
v. Accessing for Gorkhas all social benefits under Constitutional provisions like SC, ST, OBC, etc., in all parts of India and nomination of Gorkhas to public and government bodies. 
vi.  Recognition of Gorkhas as a linguistic minority community

Furthermore the Assam State Committee of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh is committed to Indigenous Status movement in Assam alomlngside unconditional support to creation of Gorkha Autonomous Council (GAC) on satellite basis throughout the Gorkha populated areas of Assam covering  approximately 25Lacs Gorkhas of the state.

Meanwhile on Thursday alongside foundation day central celebration at BGP National Head Office the newly renovated office 'Shaanti Appartment' at Pradhan Nagar in Siliguri, Dist. Darjeeling was inaugurated by National President Dr. Munish Tamang followed by National Office Bearers meet. The foundation day was celebrated across 22 states of country and in 16 districts of Assam.
