Sahitya Academy selects New advisory board for Nepali language


KalimNews, New Delhi, March 29, 2023 : Sahitya Academy, the India's national academy of letters formed the new advisory board for Nepali language. Members of the advisory committee are selected representing different literary organisations covering different regions. 

In a meeting of the executive council of Sahitya Academy in New Delhi, a new advisory board of Nepali Language Advisory Committee has been formed. The members nominated included: Dr. Shankar Dev Dhakal of Gangtok (convenor) from Sikkim, Prem Chandra Pradhan from Darjeeling, Durga Khatiwara from Guwahati Assam, G.S.Limboo from Sikkim, Tejman Baraily from Siliguri, Chandra Mani Upadhayaya from Tezpur Assam, Aasha Mukhya Lama from Kurseong, Amrit Rana from Alipurduar Dooars, Subash Sotang from Kalimpong and Ram Saha from Shillong  Meghalaya.

Till May 2022 only seven regional literary organsiations were recognised by Sahitya Academy as literary associations, they were Nepali Sahitya Adhyayan Samiti Kalimpong, Nepali Sahitya Sammelan Darjeeling, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Shillong Meghalaya, Gorkha Jana Pustakalaya Kurseong, Nepali Sahitya Parishad Gangtok Sikkim, Akhil Bharatiya Nepali Bhasha Samiti Dehradun Uttarakhand and Asam Nepali Sahitya Sabha Kalangpar Assam. Recently two more literary organisations of the Siliguri and Dooars are recognised by the Sahitya Academy.
