NE states to give presentation onadventure tourism at G20 summit

EOI, KOLKATA, MARCH 23, 2023: The north-eastern states will give a presentation on ‘Adventure Tourism as a vehicle for achieving sustainable development goals’ as a side event at the 2nd Tourism Working Group meeting of the G20Summit to be held in Siliguri and Darjeeling from April 1to April 3, a PIB release issued on Thursday said. 
The five priorities of the Tourism Working Group were Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs and Destination Management which w ere introduced in the 1stTourism Working Group meeting and endorsed by all the G20 members, invitee countries and international organizations. 
In the second meeting, they will discuss deeper and broader aspects of the five priorities. A technical tour to Darjeeling has been planned during the 2nd Tourism Working Group meeting. The G20 members and other invitees will have a UNESCO World Heritage toy train ride from Ghoom to Batasia Loop, tea tasting and an experience of moonlight tea leaf plucking. 
They will also be taken to The Raj Bhavan in Darjeeling. A cultural programme and an exposure to the art and craft of the hills will be organized at Chowrasta, Darjeeling. 
There will also be a display of products of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. An exhibition will be held for common people from April 3 to 5 to increase awareness about the G20 presidency of India and the promotion of sustainable practices under adventure tourism.
