Hill Trinamool team demands new sewerage system for Kalimpong town

YAWAN MOTHAY KOLKATA, FEBRUARY 28, 2023 : A Hill Trinamool Congress team led by Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Chhetri on a visit to Kolkata has discussed with Union Irrigation Minister Partha Bhaumik and discussed the problem of frequent landslides in the Kalimpong area during the rainy season, damaging roads, houses and lands of people and demanded the setting up of protection walls and jhoras.
In a meeting with Union Minister for Urban Development Firhad Hakim, the team has pointed to the need of building new sewerage lines form Kalimpong.
The present sewerage lines had been built in the British period and due to the growing population these often lead to blockades, causing various problems. They have also demanded the construction of footpaths in areas where there is no footpath.
Darjeeling Hill Trinamool Youth President Suman Gurung and Darjeeling Hill Trinamool Cinchona Plantation Association President Santosh Khawas are the other members of the team.
