Don't Miss

SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, MARCH 9, 2023 : Controversy surrounded the Sikkimese Unity Festival called by Joint Action Council on Thursday as Chairperson of Sikkim Commission for Protection of Child Rights Roma Tamang lodged a written complaint against the JAC at Sadar Police Station saying that during the event children and students were made to participate in a rally at M. G. Marg in Gangtok.
“We have nothing to say on the programme, but what we saw children are being used in the rally. This is not appropriate, and against the law. Hence we lodged a complaint,” Roma Tamang said, while talking to the Echo of India.
A senior executive member of the JAC, while talking to the EOI about the complaint, said: “We came to know about the complaint but we have not used the children for political rallies. This is for a social cause.”
The police said an FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the case was under investigation
