Three Kalimpong residents die in Siliguri car crash : Seven persons have died in road accidents in and around Siliguri in past 1 week : Husband murders wife in SIliguri

SNS, Siliguri, 12 February 2023: Three persons, including a woman, were killed and two others were injured when a car in which they were travelling in hit a tree near Bengal Safari: North Bengal Wild Animals Park on the outskirts of Siliguri today. 
Police sources said the car was headed to Siliguri from Kalimpong with five persons in it. It is learnt that all oft hem hailed from Kalimpong. "It seems that the car hit the tree after it somehow lost control. Three persons died, while two others were injured. Police have started investigations," said Siliguri police commissioner Akhilesh Chaturvedi. 
The deceased have been identified as Subarna Chhetri, 26, Bipin Ghimirey, 32, and Paul Thapa, 30. 
Local people and police personnel rescued the injured persons from the car. The relatives of one of the deceased, Bipin Ghimire, said they were clueless about the accident.

"They were coming from Kalimpong. We came to know that the vehicle collided with a tree," they said. 
The injured person, Arpan Rajput and Pradimo Chhetri, have been admitted in the private health facility, police sources said. 
With today's accident, at least seven persons have died in road accidents in and around Siliguri in less than a week. 

Husband murders wife 
Police today arrested one Sudip Baisya for allegedly killing his wife. Residents of Sitai, Cooch Behar district, the couple used to stay in a rented house at Surjya Sen C-Block under the NW police station in Siliguri. They have three children- -two sons and a daughter. "Sudip Baisya slit the throat of his wife with a knife after an argument. 
He did not stay at home regularly and would doubt that his wife had an extra marital affair. He, however, took her to the Siliguri District Hospital where she was declared dead there. The hos-pital authorities had called the police as they had doubts on his behaviour. Police arrested him," a source said. 
The elder sister of the woman has filed a police complaint against Baisya, it is learnt.
