EOI, SILIGURI, FEBRUARY 3, 2023 : Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee will virtually inaugurate the newly build museum and library in the name of Thakur Panchanan Barma in Jalpaiguri on February 9.
On Friday, Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority Chairman Sourav Chakraborty said this in a news conference at the SJDA office in Siliguri.
The SJDA has constructed the new building in Jalpaiguri near Rajbari. The name of the museum is 'Panchanan Barma Smarak Bhawan'. Books on Panchanan Barma, documentaries, literature, collection of poems and portraits of Panchanan Barma will be exhibited at the museum, built at the cost of Rs 54 lakh. A committee will be formed to manage the museum.
The SJDA Chairman said: "For the first time a museum in the name of Thakur Panchanan Barma has been set up in north Bengal. The Panchanan Barma Smarak Samiti had forwarded a proposal to build this museum. Accordingly, the SJDA had started the work. Our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will virtually inaugurate the museum from Howrah.”
