Leopard attacks tea garden worker near Bagdogra

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, FEBRUARY 20, 2023 : A teagarden worker was injured when a leopard attacked her when plucking of tea leaves was going on at Taipoo Tea Estate near Bagdogra on Monday morning.

Female workers were plucking tealeaves at section 7 of the tea garden when a leopard suddenly appeared and attacked Fatima Lakra, injuring her I the palm and arm. Her friends managed to rescue her by pushing the animal back to the forest are.

Lakra was soon rushed to the health center of the tea garden but was referred to North Bengal Medical College Hospital as the wound was deep after her friends managed to rescue by pushing the animal back to the forest area.

After the incident, the workers stopped the workout of fear that the leopard could come again. The management of the tea garden informed the Forest Department and asked for the help to trap the animal as workers heard the leopard roaring after the incident
