Hill BJP leaders want party MPs from Darjeeling to work only for Gorkhaland

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, FEBRUARY 17, 2023 : BJP leaders from the hills have accused the central leadership of the party of not being honest about the issue of the Gorkhas. “Our issue is to form a separate state for the Gorkhas. For that reason, we had joined the BJP and gave the BJP M.P.s from Darjeeling three times. But politics has changed in such a way that we are dissatisfied with the BJP itself,” Darjeeling District BJP leaders Mohan Rizal and Ravin Kalden said on Friday.

“We request MPs to speak for only one issue, a separate state of Gorkhas. For that, we had asked the people to vote and after winning with a large number of votes, Raju Bista became a Member of Parliament. It has been four years since Bista became an MP, but he has not made his point clear in Parliament. Sometimes he talks about separate state, sometimes he talks about PPS, sometime she talks about 11 castes. He is confusing Parliament itself. He speaks but never questions the Speaker about the follow-up action.”

They said the condition of the BJP in the hills was getting worse. “The party could not contest the GTA elections because of the BJP's organizational weakness.
