Centre will file review petition before apex court, assures Kiren Rijiju

PRAKASH ADHIKARI, EOI, GANGTOK, FEBRUARY 5, 2023:  Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang in a meeting with Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has emphasized that under article371F of the Constitution full protection and rights of the Sikkimese people were ensured, said a Press release issued by the office of the Sikkim Chief Minister.
The Sikkim Chief Minister called on the Union Law Minister in Delhi and submitted a memorandum, apprising him about the recent observations by the apex court and held a discussion in detail. 
The Press release mentioned about “the impression that the Sikkimese of Nepali origin are persons of foreign origin settled in Sikkim.” 
The Union Law Minister was apprised that the Sikkim Government had filed a review petition before the apex court to suitably address the issue in the larger interest of all the Sikkimese people. 
The  assured that the Centre was also filing a review petition, and would extend full support to the Sikkim Government in this regard. He said the Solicitor General of India would appear before the apex court. Sikkim Minister Bedu Singh Panth was present during the meeting
