KLO chief: We will soon reach India for talks : Jeevan Singha is believed to be staying in Myanmar, along with some armed cadres
TT | Siliguri | 12.01.23 : Jeevan Singha, the self-styled chief of the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), has claimed that he and other leaders of the outfit will soon reach India to participate in “peace talks” with the Centre.
Singha is believed to be staying in Myanmar, along with some armed cadres.
In a release issued by the proscribed terror outfit, it has been mentioned that the process of bilateral discussions between the Centre and the KLO has reached the “final stage”.
In December, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had invited the outfit for “peace talks”. “The outfit has mentioned that his active mediation has helped in the process of peace talks,” said a source.
Such a message from the KLO has cropped up questions in Bengal, especially because the state government, which is completely against the division of the state, has not been included in the negotiations so far.
Also, KLO leaders have a number of cases pending against them in Bengal and Jeevan Singha himself has been charged under the UAPA.
A retired police officer said last year, Bengal came up with a new rehabilitation policy for KLO militants.
After that, Kailash Koch, the self-styled general secretary of the outfit, surrendered before the Bengal police with his wife.

Trinamul’s all India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee will speak at a public meeting in Cooch Behar on February 11, party leaders said on Wednesday.
In recent months, this is his first visit to the district, which is considered as a stronghold of the BJP in north Bengal.
