YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, JAN 15, 2023: President of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha Bimal Gurung said on Sunday it was time for practical work for Gorkhaland.
“The time for the photo session is over. Gurung told reporters inMirik:“Our agenda is a separate state of Gorkhaland. We are currently working for Gorkhaland. The merger of Darjeeling and Sikkim is not our subject. Gorkhas have land of their own. Our territory is a separate state of Gorkhaland. Now is the time for us to unite as a nation. We have to forget everything and move forward for the community.
Since 1986, many people had become martyrs for the Gorkhaland cause. Their contribution had not yet been appreciated. Only a separate state of Gorkhaland would fulfil the dream of the martyrs. “I have left GTA and moved forward for Gorkhaland. We are working secretly in Delhi.”
He said the committee formed to examine the issue of tribal status for the 11 left-out communities had not acted seriously. The solution to the issue would have to be taken at the political level. For, everything had been explained to the authorities. He said there was no political connotation in his meeting with BJP M.P. of Darjeeling. Raju Bista.“Because of my old acquaintances with Raju Bista he came to see me when he visited the Bijanbari area.”
