Ajoy Edwards vows to fight for Gorkhaland

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, JAN 5, 2023: The coming 12 months will be important for the Gorkha community, Hamro Party president Ajoy Edwards said in Mirik on Thursday. 

Within this period, they would have to play an important role for the Gorkhaland state. He said the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration was a body null and void. Even present GTA chairman Anit Thapa and former chairmen Bimal Gurung and Binoy Tamang had admitted the same. 

“I will play the role of the younger brother in the Gorkhaland movement and the formation of a separate state of Gorkhaland.” 

All parties were united on this issue and in the coming few days a meeting would be held to decide on the initiatives to betaken for the formation of a Gorkaland state. Non-violent protests would be held in Delhi and Darjeeling.

Speaking about the Darjeeling Municipality, he said people had entrusted the responsibility of running the civic body to HP. 

“We were faithfully following the obligations. But some ward councillors were purchased, using the money of contractors. Even when we were organizing a cleanliness drive, photos of garbage were uploaded in social media by searching here and there. Now what is happening? Where are the people who had made the photos viral?”
