4 killed on NH 31A as car plunges into river bed

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, JAN 28, 2023: Four people were killed in an accident on National Highway 31A late on Friday night as a Bolero vehicle carrying nine people, including the driver, fell from the Rungtung river bridge in the Mongpong area directly into the river bed. The four killed were identified as Sahil Shan, Susant Joydhar, Tilak Mandal and Shukla Kundu.

According to the information from Mongpong police, the vehicle was returning to Debiganga in Siliguri from Banarhat in the Dooars with a bride who sustained injuries, along with the four others.

The bodies of those killed were handed over to their families on Saturday after post mortem at Jalpaiguri.
