Contractor changed to expedite construction of road

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, DECEMBER 19, 2022: Work for the construction of a 1.3 km long road from Kalimpong Lower Bong Basti Lower Gairi Gaon Health Centre to Gairi Gaon Primary School started on Monday.
The work had been approved four years ago but the Kalimpong Engineering Division(KED) could not complete it due to the negligence of the contractor. Rs 1.14 crore had been sanctioned for the work. The work resumed after the appointment of a new contractor.
Kalimpong MLA Ruden Sada Lepcha broke a coconut to ceremonially start the work on Monday. Public Relations Officer of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration Kalimpong Anup Chhetri was present.
A memorandum was submitted to the MLA on the occasion, asking for construction of a local Sangh Bhawan, or community building.
