SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, GANGTOK, NOVEMBER 2, 2022: In a significant development in the Tibetan Buddhist circles, the Kagyu sect has identified a boy from Bumthang in Bhutan as the reincarnation of the late Jigmee Nawang Tempa Gyaltsen (1939 - 2007), who was the head of the Kargud Tshechokling Monastery Chandmari Gangtok, a Drukpa lineage monastery.
The name of the new incarnation is Namdak Jigdral Choeying Rangdrol. He had been recognized by Rinpoche Gyalwang Drukpa two years ago. Observers of the Tibetan Buddhist order viewed the development as yet another instance of close spiritual and cultural links between Sikkim and Bhutan.
