`Jai Shree Ram' chants a `blunder'? Gadkari, laid the foundation stone for a 12 km-long elevated road connecting Siliguri and Salugara

SNS, Siliguri, 17 November 2022: As BJP activists shouted the 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans during felicitation of Trinamool Congress leader and Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb in the presence of Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, political observers here said the saffron brigade committed "another blunder" by doing so.
Intellectuals in West Bengal were unhappy when BJP activists had shouted 'Jai Shree Ram' during a government programme when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present at Victoria in Kolkata in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal.
"The Kolkata incident had gone against the BJP back then, as the 'Jai Shree Ram' chants in such a government programme had not going down well with the culture loving people of Bengal." an observer said.
Very significantly, following instructions from Miss Banerjee, people's representatives belonging to the Trinamool Congress were present on the dais when Union Minister Mr Gadkari, laid the foundation stone for a 12 km-long elevated road connecting Siliguri and Salugara here today. Also significantly, political personalities belonging to the TMC were in not invited to speak during the programme. Though Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb did not express his unhappiness over it publicly, he mentioned there was no scope to interact with the Union minister and discuss about further development of Siliguri.
On the other hand, chairman of the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) Sourav Chakraborty took an opportunity to interact with Mr Gadkari and told him about West Bengal not receiving central funds for several schemes, according to Mr Chakraborty.
