EOI, SILIGURI, NOV 16, 2022 : Gorkha Janamukti Morcha will contest the panchayat elections scheduled early next year and they are not averse to an alliance with another party.
This was stated by GJM chief Bimal Gurung who is on a visit to Siliguri. Gurung also said that an alternative strategy will be developed with all political parties and voluntary organizations in the central convention of December for the demand of a separate state of Gorkhaland.
Today Gurung had a meeting with party workers and leaders at the partyoffice near Siliguri. After the meeting, he openly stated about the current politics and corruption in hills.
"Horse-trading politics is going on in the hills. Even though Anit Thapa's Gorkhaland Territorial Administration is in the majority money is playing a role in the hills. There is no development. The state government has given hundreds of crores of rupees for the development of the hills.\
But no one can tell where that money is now. With that money, ruling party leaders are buying houses in Siliguri, buying cars and filling their own pockets. It is not good for the hills at all," the leader said
