Two schools selected to represent Kalimpong at State level congress of 30th NCSC 2022
KalimNews, Kalimpong, October 17, 2022: The 30th National Children’s Science Congress was organized on October 15, 2022 at Kalimpong Girls’ Higher Secondary School but its result on the Project paper was pending on that day and was declared today.
AK Rai, District Coordinator of Kalimpong District Committee, National Children’s Science Congress, announced this during a press conference.
The project paper, which is prepared as a scientific research paper every year, was based on five sub-themes of the theme "Understanding the environment for health and well-being" for this year and the next year, in which only nine schools of Kalimpong district participated, which is very less than other districts. Rai in favor of the committee requested other schools to participate in the coming years.
Among the nine participants, two schools from Kalimpong district have been selected as district toppers following a ratio of 4:1 among 9 projects from 9 groups of 8 schools who presented their project papers on different topics. These two are Dipsana Rai of St Philomena Girls’ Higher Secondary School on the topic Titepati as a herbal ointment and Saraswati Singh of Bagrakote Higher Secondary School on the topic Spread of Dengue in Bagrakote, lessons and its remedies.
They will represent Kalimpong district in the State Level National Childrens’ Science Congress to be held in Kolkota on 6th and 7th November.
District Coordinator AK Rai has expressed gratitude to R Vimala IAS Kalimpong district magistrate and district administration, convener of district science and technology and biotechnology committee and district planning officer Pritam Limbu, district mass education and extension officer and the co-convener of the committee Dawa Tamang, Laxana Goley AI of schools (secondary education), coordinator of poster and model competition Dr. Saroj Thapa of SUMI. He also stated that the organizing committee is grateful to all who contributed directly and directly for the successful completion of the 30th National Children’s Science Congress. The role and contribution played by Mayel Lepcha, Principal of Girls Higher Secondary School, staff and students, for hosting the event by providing building materials, staff and volunteers, Principal of SUMI and NSS Volunteer and its in-charge Headmasters, Guide Teachers and students of all participating schools is commendable and the committee is indebted for the help and contribution it received. It also expressed its gratitude to professors of Kalimpong College, Dr BB Gurung of Science Center and Prof Binyaraj Sharma and Dr Sharad Gurung of Regional Research Station UBKV who functioned as evaluators of the competitions for their support and participation.
Two other competitions were held on that day, creative poster competition and innovative model competition, and according to an information received from the state Science and Technology and Biotechnology Department, the three winners of each category will now represent the district in the state level competition. This competition will probably be in Kolkata in the last week of November.
The 1st 2nd and 3rd winners of the creative poster competition were Prashanti Sunwar of Kalimpong Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Somak Debnath of Army Public School and Amonika Bhutia of Rockvale Academy respectively.
In the Innovative Model competition, the three 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners were Swekriti Khawas of Rockvale Academy, Amsika Rai of Pranami Balika Vidya Mandir, and Shreya Pradhan of Kalimpong Girls' Higher Secondary School respectively.
