EOI | SILIGURI | OCTOER 20, 2022: The Special Task Force arrested Malkhan Singh alias Madhav Mandal late on Wednesday night on suspicion of trying to contact Kamtapur Liberation Organization chief Jiban Singh and for spreading the network of KLO in north Bengal.
The accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Thursday afternoon. According to STF sources, Malkhan Singh was secretly spreading the network of KLO militancy for a long time.
He was scheduled to attend a secret meeting in Guwahati on Thursday. When he was arrested in the Dulaljot area of Kharibari, he was on his way to Guwahati in a rented car from Malda with his wife. According to STF sources, the arrested person was associated with militant organizations for a long time.
He was arrested in 2012 for his involvement in several incidents of sabotage. Although later released on bail, he had again got in touch with KLO chief Jeevan Singh and was spreading the network of the organization in north Bengal. STF officials would interrogate him on remand and investigate if he had plans for sabotage in future, STF Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudip Bhattacharya said.
