Institutes battle it out in two-day high-voltage Salesian College fest
SABA HASSAN, SNS, SILIGURI, 22 OCTOBER 2022: In what looked like a well-deserved break from academics, Salesian College in Siliguri organised the annual two-day fest 'Innovision,' which ended today.
Packed with high-octane performances and creative themes, the contest saw some of the best talents on display, even as students from 19- plus colleges across North Bengal put up a glittering show on stage.
The grand fest kick-started with the inaugural ceremony where the Chief Guest, Dr Nupur Das, Principal Secretary to the Council for Undergraduate Studies at the North Bengal University, was felicitated by Salesian College Principal Fr (Prof) George Thadathil.
"I am extremely happy to see Salesian College organise such a wonderful fest with so much of energy," Dr Das said.
In the Killian Hall, the music-based event–Indo Western Fusion Band- -was a hit among the audience as the performers' energy level was palpable.
The several contests were judged by professionals in their respective fields, ranging from Professor Shrawal Pandey from the Oscar Film
College, Kathmandu, Apratim Saha, the internationally
renowned photographer, Aakash Tripathi, whose debut
album featured in Rolling
Stone India, and Grishmita
Sharma, the Forever Miss
Sikkim 2022.
The subsequent event,
Instrumental Music, started
with the enthusiastic and zealous performers displaying
their multi-faceted talent in various instruments like the violin, keyboard and guitar. It was
followed by Rap and Beat
Boxing contests.
Day- I concluded with a
musical performance by the
Department of Music, Salesian
College, Siliguri Campus, featuring a special performance
by popular singer Sannidhya
Thapa.
Along with these competitions, offstage contests
were held, where participants
from different colleges jumped
into action to exhibit their
talents in solo western singing.

painting.
The second day's events
were lined up vibrant performances, starting with the
solo dance female/male and
also group dance,
themed/non-themed.
The most anticipated event
of the day, Fashion Show, came in last, where creations of various arts collaborated with the respective themes.
The overall winner's trophy was lifted by Salesian college Siliguri and Inspiria Knowledge Campus, Siliguri.
"Participants rained the spirit of competition and the air in the campus had the fragrance of fight and fun for two consecutive days," said a college official.
The fest ended with a colourful and robust performance put up by the guest band, Ikigai, and on a high note with the DJ evening where the crowd grooved to the music
played by DJ Jennifer.
