Arkamoy Datta Majumdar, Avijit Sinha | TT | Calcutta | 19.10.22 : Several senior leaders of the Bengal BJP on Tuesday expressed their displeasure, though in private, with the composition of the new core committee announced by the party’s national chief J.P. Nadda on Monday.
The grumblings follow the last few years’ trends in the BJP. Whenever a new committee was announced, a section within the party expressed discontent with its composition.
According to multiple sources, Bishnupur MP Saumitra Khan and Ranaghat MP Jagannath Sarkar are among the state BJP leaders, who have already expressed their discontent with the new committee in the party circles.
“Saumitra is very unhappy. He has threatened to resign from one of the panchayat committee posts he has been assigned,” an MP close to Khan said.
The Bishnupur MP has been one of the most prominent dissenting voices within the BJP and has been registering his discontent with the state leadership for some time. On the other hand, Sarkar has reportedly spoken against the committee to his close aides. He has said that the party is giving importance to people, who have no understanding of the grassroots. “He has been speaking against people like Swapan Dasgupta and Anirban Ganguly, who have no political background in Bengal and have very little idea of the state,” said a source.

In the face of the growing dissent, state BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya tried to put up a brave face. “The party has made an announcement after deliberations. What it has decided is final,” he said.
