
642 dengue cases in the state recorded during past 24 hrs : Two deaths

The dengue situation in various areas of the state, especially in Kolkata, is quite alarming this year
KOLKATA, 30 October 2022: Out of the 4695 samples the state reported 642 fresh dengue cases on Sunday. Total dengue tests conducted in the state stood at 4695.
The state witnessed two more dengue deaths. In the first case, a woman died of the disease at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Saturday night. A resident of a village under Deganga Gram Panchayat of North 24-Parganas, Shoma Das was admitted to Barasat Hospital on Tuesday. The 24-year-old woman died on Saturday night after being diagnosed with dengue in Deganga of North 24 Parganas district.
The victim was identified as Soma Das of Thakurbari area in Deganga.
In another case, a sub-inspector of Kolkata Police and a resident of Bansdroni Utpal Naskar died of dengue at a private hospital in Kolkata.A 49-year-old assistant sub-inspector, Uttam Naskar posted with the detective department of Kolkata Police at Lalbazar died of dengue on Saturday. Naskar was admitted at a private hospital near Ekbalpore from October 27.
This is the first dengue death of a police personnel in Kolkata this year. Naskar lived with his family in Bansdroni.
According to police sources, Naskar had fever last Sunday. He consulted a doctor on Monday and was put under medication. When his condition worsened on Thursday, he was admitted at the hospital. He was declared dead a little after 5am on Thursday.
Officials said the death toll due to dengue in the state has reached nearly 50 even as the Health Department has not confirmed the figures on fatalities yet.
Thereafter, her health condition worsened and she was shifted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Friday.
On Saturday, 1,047 new cases were detected across the state.
