Bengal will become number 1 in creating jobs in next 4-5 yrs: CM
The Chief Minister also directed the Technical Education Training and Skill Development department to open a grievance cell and advertise it on television
MP | 16 Sept 2022 | Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that the state will be number one in the creation of jobs in the next four to five years which is the aim of the government now. She said various industrial corridor projects are coming along the western parts of the state, particularly in Jangalmahal.
Banerjee was addressing a gathering in Kharagpur where she distributed around 7,000 appointment letters to the beneficiaries who have completed various technical training under the Utkarsh Bangla scheme. She said that Bengal holds the number 1 position in imparting skill training among the job seekers and 9 out of 21 candidates who have secured top positions in the country are from Bengal.
"We will give appointment letters to at least 30,000 job seekers before Puja. After we came to power many ITI and polytechnic colleges have been set up. Industrialists are hiring people from ITI colleges. Industries can have an idea what type of skilled workers are being trained here and they can hire people from here," Banerjee said.
The Chief Minister also directed the Technical Education Training and Skill Development department to open a grievance cell and advertise it on television so that those who have failed to secure a job after completing training courses can call this number and get job opportunities for the second time. Banerjee further stated that various Self Help Groups (SHGs) have already made over 2.5 crore school uniforms which were earlier bought from outside. This has also given employment to many people who have come under various such groups and are preparing dresses.
Banerjee said that more than 1 lakh job opportunities will be created in Deocha Pachami in Birbhum which is the world's second-largest coal block. She hit out at BJP and CPI(M) for creating trouble in Deocha Pachami sites only for the sake of politics. "BJP and CPI(M) are going to this site to trigger chaos. They are trying to stop the project. How will they be able to do politics if people get jobs," Banerjee said.
Around Rs 72,000 crore of investments are being done in Jangalmahal which will create lakhs of job opportunities. As many as 2.5 lakh jobs have been created in the leather industry. Around 26 helipads are coming up in the state and 3 new airports, she added. She further stated: "Shale gas project is coming up in Asansol. Industrial corridors will be set up along Dankuni, Panagarh, Barjora, Purulia, Bankura, Raghunathpur covering the western parts."
"Bengal has already secured top position in several parameters as it received tourism and skill development awards. We have got UN awards also. In 100-days work we were in number in position but the Centre stopped providing funds," she added.
