Trinamool Congress getting readyfor civic polls in 3 hill municipalitiesYAWAN


YAWAN GURUNG,  EOI, MIRIK, AUGUST 17, 2022: After the municipal election in Darjeeling and the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration election, civic polls are likely to be held in the three of the municipalities in the hills in September.      

Hill Trinamool Congress has started preparations for the municipal elections in Mirik, which has been playing an important role in hill politics.

Hill Trinamool Congress chairman L. B. Rai said on Wednesday that the party was fully prepared to face the election in Mirik Municipality. 

"If we look at the polls from the perspective of development, the party's victory is certain this time."  He said that the Hill Trinamool go to the elections for the municipalities of  Kurseong and Kalimpong along with Mirik as per the instructions of the party high command. 

In response to a question, he said that the West Bengal Government had been generous to nominate Mirik, the youngest municipality in the State, for the status of Green City. Mirik was fulfilling the criteria of Green City and soon Mirik would get the status of  Green City. 

He recognized this as an excellent opportunity to turn Mirik into an exemplary tourism center in the whole country. Newly appointed Trinamool Congress Darjeeling District Women's Unit president Regina Gurung said women power would be strengthened in the Darjeeling hills. 

She met L. B. Rai in Mirik during the day. She said she would faithfully fulfill the responsibilities bestowed on her and  work to strengthen women power in the Darjeeling hills. She expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Mamata  Banerjee  for nominating her for the task.
