Dev Raj   |   TT  |  Patna   |    01.08.22  : The two-day first-ever joint national executive of the morchas or fronts of the BJP concluded in Patna on Sunday with a resolution asking all frontal organisations to ensure that the party comes to power in the 2024

Lok Sabha elections and Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister again.

The party also asserted that everything was well in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar and it would contest the general elections and the 2025 Assembly elections with chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) as the partner.

BJP president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah were present at the valedictory function attended by over 750 representatives of party’s seven morchas — farmer, woman, youth, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, other backward castes and minorities — from different parts of the country.

“We have passed a resolution to win more seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections than the previous one and ensure that our party once again comes to power with Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. Our party workers from different parts of the country will now go back to their places with this resolution and work with enthusiasm to fulfill it,” BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said while briefing media persons after the national executive.

The BJP had won 303 out of 545 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 general elections, its best ever performance since the party was formed in 1980. It has started gearing-up for the 2024 polls out of apprehensions that it may not be able to repeat the performance due to losing ground in the Assembly elections in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

One of the reasons of holding the joint national executive here was to secure the state for 2024 to offset the losses in Uttar Pradesh, if any. It had swept 39 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar in 2019 in alliance with chief minister Nitish’s JDU and other smaller parties.

Senior BJP leaders who had travelled to Patna to attend the programmes said they were unsure about their party’s performance in Bengal, Odisha and a couple of other big states.

Speaking further on the occasion, Singh rejected the speculations about friction between the BJP and the JDU and asserted that both the parties will together contest the future polls.

“Let us make clear that we will contest not only the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but also the 2025 Assembly elections. There is no friction or tension between the two parties. The BJP always follows the rules of the alliance and respects all its allies,” Singh added.

National flags made by women organisations in Kashmir were distributed among the representatives. They will carry them to their places to be hoisted during the three-day ‘har ghar tiranga’ (Tricolour flag atop every house) programme from August 13 to 15.
