
Training scheme in Kalimpong for health assistants and lab technicians

YOWAN MOTHAY | EOI | KALIMPONG, JULY 13, 2022: Innovation Pvt. Graham's Homes School for Skills is launching a course called Allied Health Sciences.
The training of General Duty Assistants and Medical Laboratory Technicians is in the course, which will be held at Dr. Graham Holmes, and is likely to begin in August 2022. The information was given by Dr. Sattadal Shah in favor of JSV Innovation Pvt. Ltd. by calling a press conference.
According to Shah, JSV is an organization of specialist doctors with over 9 years of experience in training of rural youth as paramedical technicians in 5 states in India. India has a shortage of over 5 million trained health workers.
JSV Innovation Pvt. Ltd.proposes to begin a training course called Allied Health Sciences in general duty attendants and medicinal laboratory technicians in the premises of Dr Graham's Homes to train youths of Kalimpong and adjoining areas as health workers and place them in employment in hospitals all over the country, Dr Satadal Saha said in a news conference in Kalimpong on Wednesday.
The school would be affiliated with National Skill Development Corporation and National Council for Vocational and Research Training, under the Union Ministry for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
"This is the highest affiliation body in India, and the certificates will be valid all over India," he said. The duration of the courses would be of six months and 12 months, respectively, including hospital-based internship for real-life learning.
"Our organization will arrange internships and assist students in job placement. So far, we have been successful in placing over 80% of our students in jobs in both government and private hospitals."
The eligibility criteria for students willing to enroll would be Class X and XII respectively for the two courses.
