Located at a height of 20,050ft, Lady of Keylong is one of the popular peaks in the Lahaul-Spiti area of Himachal.

“We successfully made it to the summit of Lady of Keylong in the morning of July 24. Today, we returned to the base camp,” Bhaskar said over the phone.

He said six climbers had headed for the peak around 4am. “We crossed numerous crevices of the glacier and trudged through ice for around five hours to reach the peak around 9am. We hoisted the National Flag and the club’s flag there and started descending. Around 6pm, we reached back our advanced camp. It is yet another successful expedition of our club,” added Bhaskar.

Other members of the team were Dipankar Sen, Jayanta Sarkar, Sujoy Banik, Amit Das and Janak Koch.

On July 16, the team had headed for Tinnu, a remote village, from Manali. From there, they had started trekking along the route. On July 20, the climbers reached a height of 14,500ft and had set up the advanced base camp.

“From there, we walked further and set up camp I at 16,500ft on July 21 and camp II at 18,000ft on July 23. Finally, we reached the summit yesterday,” said Bhaskar, who had successfully completed various mountain expeditions.

The team will leave for Manali and then for Delhi. “From Delhi, they will take a train. We are waiting for their arrival in Jalpaiguri. They will be felicitated,” said a club member.
