Sebastian Pradhan arranges hume pipesunder waterfall blocking passage

YOWAN MOTHAY, EOI, KALIMPONG, JULY 21, 2022 :  Social worker Sebastian Pradhan has taken the initiative to lay hume pipes at Dukka Changey waterfall to mitigate problems faced by local people during the monsoon. 

The level of water at the waterfall, lying on the road that connects Dukka Basti under Kagey gram panchayat, at the border of Dukka and Tandrabong villages, rises during the rainy season. Especially students who have to negotiate the stretch face a lot of problems. 

Sebastian Pradhan said on Thursday the hume pipe was arranged to provide some assistance to the people, taking into account the problem that the villagers were facing for a long time. 

According to villagers, a person had been washed away in the river during the rain some years ago. GTA member of no. 38 constituency Kumar Sharma had arranged a JCB machine for laying the hume pipe. 

Local residents like Sanchey Lepcha, Diwas Rai and others who were present during the laying of the pipe expressed their gratitude to Sebastian Pradhan for proving the hume pipe and to Kumar Sharma for providing the JCB machine, and help creating a passage for villagers through the waterfall.
