A bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and J.K. Maheshwari refrained from giving any date but asked counsel Chand Qureshi to mention the plea before the registry officer concerned.

Qureshi said he had already mentioned the matter and it was being formally listed for hearing on July 11.

The petition has been filed by advocate Abu Sohel from East Midnapore.

The petitioner said Sharma had not been arrested despite multiple FIRs lodged against her since May 27. Sohel mentioned that he himself had lodged an FIR with Bengal police against Sharma, but no action had been taken so far.

The petitioner urged the apex court to issue a directive to the authorities to “immediately act and arrest” Sharma.

It was submitted that an FIR was lodged by Delhi police against Sharma and certain other politicians, “but till date no arrest has been made.”

The petitioner submitted that there had to be tolerance of all religious faiths as unity in diversity was an integral part of Indian culture and ethos.
