Don't Miss

PRASHANT ACHARYA, EOI, SILIGURI, JULY 25, 2022: Twenty-one students of Kumudini Homes, Kalimpong, who returned on Monday after representing India at Basel Tatto were warmly welcomed by hundreds of people at Bagdogra airport and Bihar More.
The students who had rocked the streets of Basel with the tunes of 'Sare Jaha Se Acha' with the sound of bagpipes and the beat of drums were felicitated with flower bouquets, Nepali caps and felicitation letter framed by various social organizations of Siliguri and Bagdogra.
Students from Gandhi Memorial High School in Bagdogra welcomed the participants by lining on the highway and airport, holding the tricolor.
The band team of Thurbo Government High School, Mirik, welcomed the team from Kalimpong, playing pipes and drums at the airport. Senior teacher of Kumudini School Rajesh Bhushal, said:
"It's a proud moment as our students not only represented India at Basel Tatto but also made history as Kumudini was one of the three best teams selected by the organizers. There were 22 countries participating in the event and it was the first time in Basel Tatto's 15-year history that the pipe and drum band from Kumudini performed excellently."
Sandeep Lama, convener of a social organization in Bagdogra, said: "This is not only a pride for the Gorkhas but also for the entire nation as these students have made history by performing so well and the tricolor hoisted at Switzerland's Basel town. We are a little disappointed that the event was not covered by the most of our national televisions who remained busy with Indian politics."
