GTA department distribution: All sabhasad gets departments or posts

Don't Miss

KalimNews,  22 July 2022: Kalimpong: All newly elected Sabhasads of Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM) and All India Trinamul Congress (AITC) are given either a post or a department of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and there is none without any of it. Excluding two seats won by Anit Thapa the chief of BGPM, to accommodate all he divided some of the departments by decentralising it into area like Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Mirik and Kurseong.
Out of the 30 seats that include 26 won by BGPM and 4 by independents two are won by Anit Thapa himself, so excluding him there are 28 Sabhasads. Of these 28 two Sabhasads are given the post of Sabha Chairman to Anjul Chouhan and Deputy Chairman to Rajesh Chauhan. And again out of the 26 Sabhasad 14 BGPM Sabhasads are nominated as Executive Sabhasads and given independent departments. The rest 12 Sabhasads and all 5 TMC Sabhsads are designated as Member on duty and given charges of the department restricted to their respective area.
It seems that Anit Thapa, as Chairman of the GTA and President of the BGPM has tried to please all of the Sabhasads of BGPM along with AITMC.
Though AITMC has declared that it will support BGPM from outside all the 5 AITMC Sabhasads including Binoy Tamng are given charges, atleast to look after their region.
It is reminded that in the GTA election 2022 held on 26 June, 8 seats are bagged by Hamro Party, a recently born new political party splitting from GNLF, the main opposition party which has created a history. There was no such opposition party neither during 1998- 2007 when Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) was in power to run the then Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC) to counter the ruling party or the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJMM) during the regime of GTA 2012-17.
