Sabana Khatun, the BJP leader, and her colleagues have accused Trinamul for the attack
TT Correspondent | Cooch Behar | 30.07.22 : The house of a local BJP leader was ransacked at a village in Dinhata sub-division of Cooch Behar district on Thursday night. Three persons, including the leader’s mother, have suffered injuries in the attack. Sabana Khatun, the BJP leader, and her colleagues have accused Trinamul for the attack.
Trinamul, leaders however, have denied the charges. Sources said last night, some youths first pelted stones at Khatun’s house and then ransacked it.
Later, when some of her neighbours came out of their houses, the attackers fled. “Trinamul-backed miscreants have ransacked Sabana Khatun’s house and also damaged her two-wheeler. As the panchayat elections are ahead, the ruling party of Bengal is trying to intimidate our workers across Dinhata,” said Ajay Roy, a BJP leader.
In another incident, crude bombs were lobbed in front of the house of Bidyut Kamal Sarkar, a BJP leader of Nigamnagar, also located in Dinhata.“Also, some BJP workers, who were returning home on yesterday night, were intercepted and assaulted in Bhetaguri,” Roy added.
Sabir Saha Choudhury, a Trinamul leader, has denied the charges. “In recent days, some BJP workers are making indecent posts in social media in the name of our leaders. We had protested such acts. But let us be clear that we never indulge in violence. The incidents appear to be fallout of BJP’s inner rivalries,” he said.
