After poll win, BGPM meets in Soureni: We cannot take a concrete decision until we sit for an official meeting- Thapa

SNS, DARJEELING, 9 JULY 2022 : Though Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM) president Anit Thapa remained tight-lipped on what exactly transpired in a meeting of his party at Soureni near Mirik today, sources maintained that decisions were taken over some important portfolios in the Gorkha land Territorial
Administration Sabha that the party is all set to form.
The meeting was attended by BGPM leaders and all the 29 Sabhashad elects of the party, with sources saying that three Sabhashad elects from the Trinamul Congress
were also present there. In the 26-June elections, the BGPM had won 27 seats, with Mr Thapa contesting from two seats, and three independent Sabhashads joining them recently. Speaking to reporters after the meeting today, Mr Thapa said, "After the election was over, we held this meeting today as an introduction among the GTA Sabhashad and our party leaders."
He further maintained that this was not an official meeting but a political one, so no concrete decision regarding the GTA Sabha was taken there.
However, according to sources, it was decided today that Mr Thapa himself would remain the chief executive of the GTA. A source also maintained that Sanchabir Subba was set to become his deputy, followed by Anjul Chowhan and Rajesh Chowhan likely to be Chairman and Vice-Chairman, respectively.
On the other hand, a source said that no decision was taken on the 14 executive members or the five nominated Sabhashads for the GTA today.
The oath-taking ceremony for the new GTA Sabha is all set to take place on 12 July at Chowrasta here, scheduled to be attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
