3 independents in GTA Sabha from Kalimpong join BGPM

EOI, KALIMPONG, JULY 5, 2022 : The three winning independent candidates from Kalimpong in Gorkhaland Territorial Administration election joined the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha on Tuesday.
They are Bikash Rai from constituency no. 34, Kumar Sharma from constituency no.38 and Bire Rai from constituency no. 39.This brings the strength of the BGPM in the GTA to 29 in the 45-member GTA Sabha and the strength of the BGPM- Trinamool Congress alliance to 34.Kalimpong District Committee secretary of BGPM Binay Ghisingh said the three independent candidates had joined the party as per the advice of the central leadership, after expressing support for the BGPM board.
All the three independent candidates told reporters that they had joined the BGPM as per the demand of the people. Bikash Rai said: "I have done what the people demanded. I have come out to serve people. I have done what the people have asked for." Kumar Sharma said: I have been with Anit Thapa since 2017.
I have joined the BGPM today in support of Anit Thapa's thoughts and ideas. You cannot sit alone and work in the field. Eighty percent of those who voted for me were supporters of BGPM."
