TT Correspondent | Cooch Behar | 22.07.22 : The Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted 10 Bangladeshis, including four children, and seized fake aadhaar cards and Indian SIM cards from them at the India-Bangladesh border in Chabri under Dinhata-II block of Cooch Behar on Wednesday night.
Sources said the Bangladeshis, except for children, have been serving as casual workers in India.
“They were working in India for the past few years and staying with their families. Last night (on Wednesday), they illegally tried to cross the border to enter Bangladesh when troops of the 192 battalion of the force intercepted them,” said a police source.
Among those who have been arrested include three men, three women, two minor girls and two minor boys. All of them are residents of Kurigram in Bangladesh.
On Thursday, the BSF handed them to police at Sahebganj.
In another incident, troops of the 40 battalion of the BSF deployed at the Indo-Bangla border at Kuchlibari in Cooch Behar intercepted an Indian while he was illegally trying to cross the border.
BSF sources said Md Bachha, a resident of 108 Chotta Kuchlibari village, was challenged by a BSF jawan who asked him to stop. Bachha, however, didn’t stop and instead attacked the jawan with a sharp weapon. The jawan sustained an injury in his right hand but succeeded in apprehending the miscreant. Later, Bachha was handed over to police at Kuchlibari.
Also, the BSF conducted raids in different locations of north Bengal on Wednesday night and seized contraband items including cattle and cough syrup bottles.
The cost of the seized items is Rs 4.09 lakh, said sources.
