Warning : Enhanced rainfall activity over the districts of North Bengal during 27-30th June 2022
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 27 June 2022: The meteorological department has warned of possible landslides in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong hills due to possibility of heavy to very rainfall during this week.
It states that widespread rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over all the districts of North Bengal during 27-30th June 2022.
27th June 2022
Orange Warning 1) Heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbihar, Alipurduar districts.
2) Heavy rain (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over North Dinajpur district.

2) Heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over Coochbihar, Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.
3) Heavy rain (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over North and South Dinajpur districts.

Possible Impact:
1. Landslide in hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong due to intense spell of rainfall.
2. Rise in water level in rivers like Teesta, Jaldhaka, Sankosh and Torsa.
3. Reduction in visibility due to rainfall activity
4. Damage to horticulture and standing crops & vegetables in the field.
5. Inundation of low-lying municipal areas.

Action suggested:
1. Mature vegetables may be harvested.
2. Drain out excess water from the crops field.
3. Do not use fertilizer & pesticides as it may wash out.
4. Follow traffic advisories if any.
5. People are advised to take safer places during thunderstorm and lightning.
