Thapa will pass Gorkhaland resolution in GTA if elected

BGPM leader files GTA poll nominations for two Kurseong Constituencies
MOHAN PRASAD, SNS, KURSEONG, 03 JUNE 2022 : Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha (BGPM) president Anit Thapa today said that they will pass a resolution in support of Gorkhaland if they are elected to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) Sabha, elections for which are scheduled for 26 June. According to Thapa, they will appeal to the government to start talks on the demand for Gorkhaland after they pass the resolution.
"We will also form a Gorkhaland Nirman Samiti and take forward the demand," he said before filing his nominations, for the GTA elections in Kurseong today. Mr Thapa filed his papers for two constituencies in Kurseong -Sittong Latpanchar and Giddha Pahar.
"The demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland has been mentioned in the GTA Act and the agreement. As such, we will pass a resolution in support of Gorkhaland in the GTA Sabha," Mr Thapa told a public rally at the Kurseong motor stand.
According to Mr Thapa, he had earlier worked with the state government for the all-round development of Darjeeling hills and that he would do so in the coming days for the benefit of the hill people.
