West Bengal's youngsters make history: Woman climbs Everest without oxygen, man walks from Singur to Ladakh
Piyali Basak from Hooghly district in West Bengal climed Mount Everest without oxygen support while Milan Manjhi from Singur walked 2,500 km from his hometown to Ladakh to raise awareness on environmental protection.
IndiaToday| Kolkata | May 22, 2022 : While Piyali Basak from West Bengal's Hooghly successfully climbed the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, without supplementary oxygen, Milan Manjhi from Singur walked 2,500 km from his hometown to Ladakh to spread awareness on environmental conservation.

Mountaineer Piyali Basak unfurled the national flag on Mount Everest at around 9 am on Sunday. She made her summit push at around 7 pm on Saturday.
As per a UNI report, Basak, in her late 20s, is the first woman from West Bengal to climb Mount Everest without oxygen support.
MILAN MANJHI
Meanwhile, Milan Manjhi from Singur in West Bengal travelled 2,500 km on foot from Singur to Ladakh to spread the message of peace, love and environmental protection.
